Hey guys! Happy Friday!!!
I've always wanted to backpack through Europe. Out of all the countries in Europe, Spain is probably my favorite. The culture there is so rich and there is so much to learn. My fascination with Spain began 2 years ago in my 1st year of taking Spanish as a foreign language. My teacher was like me, in that she loved to travel the world, and Spain was her favorite place. She used to show us pictures and videos of her travels throughout and teach us about the culture. I was always fascinated.
So enjoy these pictures and fun facts about the lovely country of Spain :3
Did you know the name of Spain is derived from Ispania which means land of the rabbits? Thats really weird lol :)
In Spain, Instead of a tooth fairy there is a tooth mouse. Legend has it after you lose a tooth you are supposed to put on your roof and when a rat found it his/her tooth would grow in for That's actually terrifying.
Did you know that the Spaniards invented the mop? I know I didn't. :)
.
Spain is the only country in Europe that produces bananas
They have the highest number of bars out of any country in the EU.
Christopher Columbus (as in the famous Christopher Columbus) is buried in Spain except no one knows where. :)
The largest producer of olive oil, Spain produces a whopping 45% of the WORLDS olive oil.
The ancient Roman aqueduct of Segovia in Spain was build in the 1st century AD, and still supplies water to the city. Thats craaaazy. Not to mention the aqueduct doesn't have any cement in between the bricks; its purely the physics of how the bricks are placed and the knowledge of gravity the Romans had that kept it standing until today. This is probably my favorite place in Spain. It just looks so magical.
Muslims founded the first Spanish University in 1209. Contrary to popular belief that there are no Muslims in Spain, just Christian Catholics, Spain still has many influences of the Arabic culture it was immersed in in the past, and there are Muslims in Spain.
Well thats all for now lovelies, remember dream big.
